I don’t build course sites.

I build systems you can run without depending on platforms

I learned this the long way — preparing to launch a project, key member of the team left and I had to get myself out of a bind. With limited technical background and lots and lots of tools.

Every platform promised simplicity.
In practice, they scattered the me across reviews, tutorials, logins, subscriptions, and fragile integrations.

This led me to assemble a different approach: one environment, clear structure, and ownership of the data.

So I built a structure that keeps the business understandable after launch — not just at setup.

Approach

When infrastructure is deliberate:

The goal isn’t speed. The goal is stability that allows iteration.

Why I Limit Scope

I don’t run high-volume client work. Each system affects how a business operates long-term, so the work requires focus and continuity.

That’s why I offer only two models:

  • You operate a prepared system

    • I manage its evolution during a defined phase

Anything in between creates dependency instead of clarity.

.

Background

My work has consistently centered around teaching environments, learning platforms, and digital systems that people must actually operate — not just launch.

Over time the pattern became clear:

Most problems weren’t technical.
They were structural decisions made too late.

This work exists to correct that order.

What To Expect

Clear boundaries
Deliberate decisions
No unnecessary complexity
No ongoing dependency unless chosen

The platform should support your teaching — not become your work.

Projects via

37 Degree Media is a fair chance web development project created on the idea that everyone, regardless of their background, should be considered for a role they are qualified for, including those formerly incarcerated.

The focus is on criminal justice reform-based organizations that work to end mass incarceration. If you are part of the Justice-involved community of program directors, people with lived experience, advocates, researchers, and experts in reentry, incarceration, and juvenile justice; consider using return citizens for your next web project.

Stemp-Ops

STEM-OPS is an NSF Alliance working to improve science, technology, engineering, and mathematics learning opportunities in prisons and directly impacted by the carceral system.

La Defensa

La Defensa is leading the movement to decarcerate the largest jail population in the United States–the LA County jail system.

*La Defensa has a new 2022 design

We met Jon through The Last Mile at San Quentin, and we were really excited to see him develop his vision of a company that prioritized the employment of designers and developers post incarceration. We worked with Jon and his team to create a complicated National Science Foundation-funded STEM Opportunities in Prison Settings (STEM-OPS) project website. Jon was responsive and receptive to our ideas and revisions, and the 37DM team also gave alternative ideas that could work better to accommodate our goals.
